Call for submissions:
Robert Rees and Darlene Young are seeking submissions of poetry and poetic expressions for an upcoming anthology about Joseph Smith (tentatively titled Prophet). See attached flyer for more information. Deadline January 31, 2026.
Historians disagree about many details regarding the life of the Prophet Joseph Smith, and he himself famously claimed, “No man knows my history.”
Mormons generally agree about his mission, but much of what we believe about the man himself–what he looked like, how tall or robust he was, his character, his personality, his life is shaped by surviving historical documents, including his personal writings and scriptures produced during his ministry, photography, art, hymns, eye-witness accounts and memorial sketches.
We seek to expand what we know and believe about the Prophet Joseph by publishing an anthology of poems and poetic expressions about this seminal figure in Latter-day Saint/Mormon culture.
Submit as many as 3 poems or 5 pages to bobrees2@gmail.com and youngbookshelf@gmail.com
Deadline: 31 January 2026
