I do not usually read “inspirational” books these days, but I was fascinated by the title Wonderful Counselor and by the chapter headings in this book, so I agreed to review it for the publisher. Wonderful Counselor is one of the most Christ-centered books outside of the Scriptural Canon that I have ever read.

Drew Young has a smooth, easy narrative voice that allows the reader to let go of anxiety and worry and actually gives heart to the reader in terms of hopefulness for the future. Wonderful Counselor is the perfect inspirational book to read in these trying times.

Wonderful Counselor is not just for Christians, though if you aren’t one already, it may make you consider converting, but not in an overly strident way. It is a guidebook that distills Jesus’ teachings into very practical psychological tools for every man and woman, a calculus text for the spirit but written in plain math that everyone can understand. I look forward to exploring Young’s other books and coming back to Wonderful Counselor again and again for Spiritual Nourishment.
