A Sacred Place Like This, written by President Henry B. Eyring, is a delightful pictorial rendition of his conference talk “I Love to See the Temple” given in the April 2021 General Conference.    The modified for book format talk is accented heavily with beautiful photography of Temples from around the world. This includes pictures of phenomenal stained-glass art from those Temples. Some photographs include a quotation of President Eyring from previous publications.  The book closes with maps showing the explosive growth of Temples to ‘dot the earth’ since the Restoration began and with a couple of pages to record personal Temple memories on. The maps clearly show the exponential growth of Temple blessing access to our global membership. I felt the Lord’s love for all of his children in seeing this.

Combining President Eyring’s talk with the striking imagery in A Sacred Place presents a powerful and uplifting message. This little book packs a mighty spiritual punch. I remember hearing President Eyring’s talk from Conference and I also read it after it was published. But, reading his talk in this format led me to experience much stronger spiritual impressions. It made me feel the divinity of the Temples as well as a strong desire to go again soon.  Combining photographic and stained-glass art with the inspired words of President Eyring resulted in a mighty experience for me. I have no doubt it will result in similar experiences for others too.

A Sacred Place Like This is a powerful work to memorialize President Eyring’s Conference Talk. Highly personal in nature, the reader follows President Eyring’s own Temple experiences and creates personal experiences of our own. This devotional book makes an excellent gift for someone preparing/aspiring to enter the Temple as well as for one who has already been. It is also a wonderful gift for oneself. I recommend this book for anyone, especially those who are seeking a spiritual boost.
